Cook....who has the time???

http://www.plentifulpantry.com/index.php

Because I work full time, have a church calling that takes a lot of time and I have a very demanding 1 year old that makes it very hard for me to cook anything, I went to plentifulpantry.com and ordered some food. I can't wait to try it out on my husband and picky daughter. I'll let you know what I think.

Walking!?!?!

SHE DID IT!!!! My sweet little 10 month old is walking......at least she will walk the 5 feet between her dad and me....by herself!!!! She did this for the first time last night. She has been walking while she holds your fingers since she was about 6 months so I expected this a lot sooner, but she has finally mustered the courage to let go and try it on her own.....should I feel a little sad about this?.....One of many things that is making her more independent.....Where did my skinny 6 lb baby go? She is all grown up and filled out. I am so in love with her a can hardly stand it. I am so happy that Phillip and I were the ones to witness this triumph. I was so worried that she would walk while I was at work. Now watch out I think this girl is going to go full speed.....NOTHING IS SAFE!!!! Oh sweet ciaos!

Something Cute!

This is my sweet baby girl!!!! I love her so much! I can't believe how fast the time goes by. She will be one in a few short months and I have enjoyed every moment of her life. I hope that she and I will always get along. Last night I was laying on the floor while she was playing next to me and she crawled over on top of my back and gave me raspberries....this is something that I do to her when we play wrestle so it was funny have her get me back.
She fell asleep after a hard day of play! This yellow blanket ("yeller" as we call it) is mine from when I was a baby, that my mother hand quilted. It has seen better days, but everyone of my nieces and nephews have loved this blanket. Taylor still tells me that he is going to steal it from me when I'm not looking. In fact I think he told me he was going to take it when I died. Millie loves this blanket too! I'm trying to make her 2 new blankets, that hopefully she will love as much as this one. This blanket is made of tricot (tree-co), it's soft and silky like the material that slips are made of. If feels wonderful on skin, thus the reason my baby loves it so much. She always buries her face in it when she is tired. Though this blanket appears ragged and worn it is well loved and has traveled to many places and will continue to do so if I can take it away long enough to mend it.

EVERTHING CHANGES!!!

I have been thinking a lot about change lately. Mostly because since the birth of my beautiful energetic daughter EVERYTHING has changed.....definitely not for the worse, my life is different. For the most part I think I handle change pretty well. I'm always telling myself I've got to roll with the punches. There are changes in my life that are happening right now that I am both excited for and dreading, and some that evoke both feelings.

First I am turning 32 tomorrow.....I'M A 32 YEAR OLD. My body is definitely different than it was when I was in my twenties. I now look at skinny girls and wish I had their bodies. I am frumpy. My husband still tells me he thinks I'm beautiful which is all that really matters but some days.....okay most days I want to look hot....not tired and frumpy. I look at pictures of all my high school friends and they all look hot and I just don't know how they do it. I barely have enough time to bathe let alone work out and do my hair.

Second my sweet adorable baby is growing. I know this is natural and even how it is suppose to go, it's a sign of good health, BUT I want her to stay little. I want her to be my baby. She is only 8 months old (on the 1st of May) and she has 3 teeth and is wanting to walk everywhere (she just needs to hold your two pointer fingers ONLY, don't wrap the others around her) She wants to eat everything that you do. I bought her an 18 month outfit yesterday that will fit her now!!! I know the sizing may be a little off but really she is wearing 12 month pants and 9-12 clothes. Her legs are so long and rock solid muscle, as are her abs. She really doesn't have much baby fat....I think it ended up on me.

Lastly I am now the Young Women's President.....that means I am responsible for the girls that are 12- 18 in our church. DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH CRAP THEY DEAL WITH!!!!! It's pretty much the same stuff we dealt with but on a much more intense level....Oh the things I get to look forward to in raising my own daughter. I have 10 wonderful young women 5 that are consistently there. This is a calling that I am both excited, and scared about. Scared about helping them through their challenges and so excited to work with them. They are a lot of fun and very strong and good girls. So as life changes I will continue to roll with the punches and as my waist line expands it might even get easier (think Violet Beauregarde in Willey Wonka).

TEETH!!!!! or TOOTH!!!

Amelia cut her first tooth yesterday. Now she is working on her second......she is only 4 and 1/2 months old. She is the first person in my family to cut teeth this soon. I think she is in a hurry to grow up...or can't wait to eat steak! She is also sitting up by herself for short periods. She is eating baby food and enjoys fruit, sweet potatoes and carrots...next week we are going to try green foods.

Thoughts

As I’m nearing the end of this blessing that I have desired to experience for so long, I can’t help but feel a little sad. I’m grateful for this journey that has brought me so much closer to God, but I’m going to miss this little person kicking and rolling inside of me. I’m going to miss knowing that while she is sharing my body with me I can keep her safe from the outside world. I’m going to miss the convenience of having her tucked safely in my womb. I will miss being there for every moment of her precious life, knowing that soon, I will have to share her with the rest of the world. Feeling remorseful for getting caught up in the busy world that I didn’t get to relish every single moment of this miracle inside of me. I love her more and more every day. As mourn the closing of this wonderful journey I look forward to the adventure ahead. Soon she will be in my arms, my lips will touch her soft cheek, my ears will hear her sweet cry, and my heart will fall deeper in love. This journey will continue with my daughter, and our loving Heavenly Father because, I can’t do this with out Him.

HEAVEN!!!!

Yesterday was Monday...I hate Mondays (okay, I strongly dislike Mondays). Not just because they are the start of the week, or the end of my beautiful weekend, simply because it is the longest, most tiresome work day for me. I'm in charge of the Monday night dinner for the operations night crew meeting every Monday night. I plan on 30 men and a few women (very few) to eat BBQ or Mexican. I do not use paper plates...only the finest for our crew. Which means I do the clean up too. This wasn't so bad before I was pregnant but now Monday's totally wipe me out. So the few waking hours that I get to spend with my husband usually consist of me plopping down on the couch, taking my shoes off and unzipping my pants so the baby and I can breathe only to get up an hour or so later to stagger into bed. Well, yesterday I received a phone call from my sweet, concerned husband, who out of the blue promises me a "rub down" to which I reply "WOOOHOOO!" As the day drags on I keep the thought of my husband rubbing my aches and pains away in the back of my mind. Not sure that he will follow through with his promise but ever hopeful. At 6:30 pm I have finally got everything cleaned up and put away. I drag myself to my car and head for home in the hope that he remembers his promise. I get home and take one look at Phillip and he looks as tired as I feel. So I never bring up the massage that I have been longing for. We watch The Big Bang and when it's over I announce that I'm going to soak in the tub for a little while. Now I'm relaxed I've had my bath, my teeth are brushed, I am ready for bed. I go sit down by my sweet husband for a while when he tells me to grab the lotion. I get the biggest smile on my face as I hobble off to get the lotion. When I return he gives me the best neck and shoulder rub that I have ever had then he ask "what next" quickly I reply "my feet". Then he leads me to the bed room and I lay down and he sits at the bottom of the bed and rubs my feet until I feel like I'm in Heaven. Then he quietly shuts the door and lets me drift off to Heaven.

IT"S ABOUT TIME!!!

I have some news to share with all my blogging friends and family.... We (Phillip and I) are having a baby!!!! I'm due in September, so I'm not that far along but I think that most everyone knows anyway. We were able see the little bean and hear the heart beat last Friday. It was the best sound I have ever heard. I have been feeling pretty good so far (knock on wood), just very tired. I can't wait to hold and kiss this baby. I have waited a long time for this... so this baby is very wanted and much loved. Anyway I just wanted to share. I love and miss all of you, take care.

BOOMER

This is our adopted dog Boomer. We found him in the field next to our apartment. He was hurt and very scared. We started feeding him and then took him to the Vet. to find out that his leg was broken. He has been camping out on our porch ever since. We love him! He is full of spunk.

The men in my life! (minus my dad and a few nephews)

This is just before Thanksgiving. My parents bought a time share with the Bass Pro Lodge in Branson, MO. It is so beautiful there. Jason (my brother) was driving to Oklahoma for Thanksgiving and met us in Branson. It was a short trip and we missed Amanda and her family but we are planning on spending some time there this summer.

Time flies!!!

Grandma Lena and Eliza

This month has gone by so fast. I'm pretty sure that I just put out the Halloween decorations and now they are packed up and put in storage until next year... where does the time go. I spent my whole life waiting to turn 16, then 18, then 21 and now I just want everything to slow down. There are plenty of times that I would like to hit the pause or rewind button just so I can relive a moment or make it last a little longer ESPECIALLY ON SATURDAYS! Some of the moments that I would relive would take me back to the lazy summers where I would spend a week or so at my grandma's house in Newton, UT. I love going there. It truly is Heaven on earth. She always has coke and chocolate on hand....aaahhh the necessities of life. Grandma always had Popsicles and ice cream to keep us cool when we younger and as I got older I became perfectly content to sit in the chair and read a book while my grandma would do the same in the other chair with the coke and fudge at arms reach. I always feel heavy when I have to leave her house, not just in my heart but in my hips and thighs as well. You will never go hungry when you visit Grandmas. I have so many fond memories of my Grandma and Newton I can't wait to get back. I miss and love you Grandma. I hope I get to see you soon! Maybe I'll pop in for an unexpected visit like I used too... don't worry I know where the key is. As for now I will drink a coke and have some chocolate and think of you.

I would like to mention my aunt Joy, who passed away this last week. My cousin Heather and I would always make a trip to visit aunt Joy whenever I came to Newton. She always had treats for us too, and we were not dumb kids. We new that we could get a popsicle from grandma then ride our bikes down to aunt Joy's and get another one. Aunt Joy didn't just get visits from us, but as I came to find out much later, all the kids in town knew Aunt Joy kept her freezer full of cold treats and they too called her Aunt Joy. I always loved going to her house , looking at all her plants and flowers, and visiting with her and learning about my family. She will be dearly missed... until we meet again.

Excitement, Adventure???

I know, I know it's been a while since I have blogged. I have been reading all your blogs, but when it comes to writing my own.... I just feel I lack the adventure, the excitement, the comedy. Don't get me wrong I do have those moments of comic excitement or the thrilling adventure...I'm a Hancock for Pete's sake I live for adventure! It's just that lately the adventure has had to take a back seat to reality. I was called to be 2nd councilor in the Relief Society for our Branch... that's right F.H.P.E. Needless to say I NEED HELP!!!!! I need ideas! I need a vacation! Phillip was called to be 1st councilor in the Elders Quorum along with being the branch Clerk. He is also a full time student so WE and I emphasize WE are always doing homework. I guess it pays off to do your homework since he is on the Presidents list!!! Way to go Phillip!!!!! I wonder what it is like to get all A's in college? He may be on the Presidents list but I guarantee that I had more fun. Well this has been fun but I need to save some blogging for the next time. Below are some pictures of some of the adventure I've had in the past year or so.

This may be one of the most exciting moments in my dad's life... next to the day that I was born! Some back ground to this picture.... My parents live on 65 acres with 4 ponds on their land 2 of which are stocked with fish. Their back fence is shared by an exotic animal farm that breeds and raises lions, and tigers, and bears, oh my! along with some other flesh eating animals like the crocodile that was in our pond that we fish, and boat (the rowing kind) in. Now alligators are native to the south east part of Oklahoma so it's not common but they (meaning alligators) have been know to swim up the river to the more central part of Oklahoma.... but we are not talking about an alligator we are talking about a man eating crocodile... okay so this one didn't dine on any human but it is still a crocodile native to Africa..I think! So naturally it is safe to assume that it came from the animal farm, who denied the escape of the ancient reptile. Well after a few days of watching and feeding the big lizard my parents wanted it out of their pond. so with the help of a few people the croc wrestling began. It took them all day to catch it but in the end there were a few exciting moments. I think you can now visits boots (my dad's nick name) at the Oklahoma City Zoo alive and happy.
This is us at Delicate Arch. Can I just say the elevation makes a HUGE difference!!! I made it to the top, I only passed out once, just kidding.

This is at Eureka Springs.....reminds me, a little, of Park City. We had so much fun I can't wait to go on our next vacation.

Bad News :(

Phillip is taking 18 credit hours this semester so we won't be going to Lake Powell :(!!! This will be my first time missing out on the trip. I told Phillip that I must really love him to give up Lake Powell. Maybe we will get the chance next year. As for coming to Utah so all my friends can meet my sweet husband, I don't know when it will happen but I know it will happen. I miss all you girls and hope I get to see you soon.

Amanda, make sure you take lots of pictures... I really wish I was going. Keep all those kidlets safe. When you get back you can send me the pictures and I'll post them here since you are a slacker and won't start your own. Love you lots!

Trip to Houston

I know it's been awhile since I last posted anything. I just don't take many pictures so this is just going to be a journal entry.

Phillip and I went to Houston, TX last weekend to visit Melody, she is a great friend that I met while working on a fire rebuild here at the refinery. We had so much fun. Phillip went on his first commercial fight and we both went to our first NFL football game, thanks Steve and Lynn Parks, also great Friends that worked on the fire rebuild. We had a blast. Thanks again Mel. for the great time and for the picture.

We ate great food, I love Masala Wok, and had a great time just hanging out. I love Mel's pool it's so pretty and relaxing. Phillip loved Melody's pinball machine. He's been trying to figure out when he can get one. He has come the the realization that we have to buy a house first so I'm safe for now.

My parents bought Sea-Doo's a few weeks ago. They are a lot of fun! We are planning on going to the lake tonight so I will try to remember the camera. I also need to mention my dear sister Amanda, and tell you all how wonderful she is. She is a mother of 4 beautiful children: Lauryn almost 9, Isaac 6, Ethan 3, and Eliza 7 months. I'm suppose to write about how great and sweet she is and all that other stuff she told me to say... did I leave anything out??? I really do love and miss you lots. Wish I was there to help you out. Have fun with the sick kids. I have another sister too. Her name is Misty and she is younger than me and has 2 handsome boys Taylor almost 4, and Koen almost 2. I get to see them every week and they are a lot of fun. Misty is a hard worker and a lot of fun to be with. Love you lots Mist. My older brother, Jason , lives in Virgina and works in D.C. he travels all over the work with his job and has been to many interesting places. I love you Jake take care of yourself and stay safe. My family is spread all over the U.S. so it's not very often that we all get together but when we do it's a blast. In a couple weeks we are going to Lake Powell for a week. We do this every year and I haven't missed one yet. I hope we make it for this trip. It's kind of hard with Phillip's school. Oh well we'll see what happens.

LAKE POWELL ROCKS!!!
